Otrubová, Ludmila ; Červenková, Denisa (advisor) ; Bouma, David (referee)
The Concept of Death in Christianity and Islam The present bachelor's thesis investigates the approaches to the concept of death in Christian and Islam religions. For the purpose of this work, Roman-Catholic Church and Sunni faiths are compared. The thesis analyses views on death from cultural standpoints - the experience of terminal illness and dying within families and in institutions in this country as opposed to those with Islam faith prevailing, followed by the treatment of death in sacred books, the Bible and the Quran, in both the monotheistic traditions and respective religious authorities' interpretations of death. A substantial section is dedicated to burial rituals - the funeral mass in church with liturgy which are significant for the Christian tradition, and body preparation and the burial itself which are highly elaborate in the Islam tradition. An attempt is made at detecting and delimiting the main differences in burial practices. The work then introduces the various resting places of the dead, studying burial places, graves, tombs and other places of piety in the way they are decorated and the frequency at which they are visited (a matter of ongoing discussion in Islam). The work is concluded by a description of burial practices of Moslems living in the Czech Republic. Keywords...

Motives of Suicide Terrorism
Mensatorisová, Martina ; Makariusová, Radana (advisor) ; Kučera, Tomáš (referee)
The aim of the master thesis is to identify factors on which a motivation of individual, rather terrorist organization is based for committing of suicide attacks as a social phenomenon, that appears to be a priori incomprehensible in the context of European culture setting. The secondary aim of the thesis is to distinguish an eventual difference of motivation between female suicide attackers and male suicide attackers. For these purposes, two terrorist organizations have been analysed within two separately designed case studies, Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam and Hamas for those the suicide attacks have represented the real "modus operandi" and simultaneously engaged women to their suicide missions. These terrorist organizations have been systematically analysed in terms of cultural, political, economic and organizational and social-psychological factors. The levels of analysis used, represent a synthetized reflection of existing theoretic treatment of suicide terrorism issue. The resulting findings confirm, first of all, the fact, that suicide terrorism phenomenon constitutes considerably complicated social phenomenon, whose central motive appears to be political, more precisely nationalistic. However its strength and effectiveness are largely interconnected with other motives, both cultural,...

The concept of death in existentialist mean
NAGYOVÁ, Andrea
The main question of this work is which view existentialists philosophers have about the death. The main intentension of this work is to demonstrate the different kinds of understanding the death by individual authors. We look for the answers of the questiones, if we can find the different forms of the death. The questiones, which way authors akcept the dead in their works, or if being of the death affect their work. At the end I want to refer of the question of life after the death. If authors belived in the life after the dead or if they didn´t. The work is written with consciousness, that the death has its own secret, that is hardly to answer.
Perception of death in the eyes of young gipsy children
KAŇKOVÁ, Tereza
Title: Perception of death by Romani children of younger school age This thesis deals with perception of death, life after death and funeral rites by Romani children of younger school age. The theoretical part describes how death of a human is generally perceived and how it is perceived by children and the adults. The thesis then characterizes Romani culture and perception of death and life after by Romani people. The aim of the thesis was to identify perception of death and life after death by Romani children of younger school age. The practical part of the thesis utilizes qualitative research strategy applied by means of the semi-structured interview technique complemented by drawing techniques, which however served for getting into contact with the respondent, not for the analysis. The research was performed in the environment of the low-threshold facility V.I.P of the Municipal Charity České Budějovice. The target sample consisted of 10 Romani children of six to twelve years of age. We may say upon the results obtained during the research itself that Romani children do not have identical perception of death and life after death. Although they believe in the existence of heaven and hell their notion is diverse and individual (from positive perception of hell to sole belief in heaven or sole belief in hell). Belief in reincarnation does not occur among the respondents. Death is perceived as personified, sometimes it merges with perception of the god or is perceived naturalistic as a consequence of illness and old age. Soul is also perceived individually, some of the respondents do not believe in soul at all, some believe that soul is the good and only good people have it, for others it is a synonym of the heart. The respondents admit visits of the death in the lives of the alive. Romani people use funeral rites different from those of the majority society, which the children respondents described although not all of them have been at a funeral. The results of my work may be used by social workers involved in work with Romani children and young people. A funeral substantially affects lives of the Romani people and it is necessary for social workers to be sufficiently informed on this event and related habits.
